The XIV Festival de Jerez will include about 50 flamenco shows

The XIV Festival de Jerez, which will be celebrated from Feb. 26th to March 13th, will include about 50 flamenco shows.

 The regional minister of Culture, Rosa Torres, has expressed today during the presentation, that she is convinced that during these 2 weeks, Jerez will turn into %u201Ca big flamenco metropolis%u201D, and she assured that in the past years the festival has achieved to consolidate as %u201Ca cultural event of reference%u201D at an Andalucian level.

 According to Torres, the contest %u201Cbreaks the mold%u201D as it goes beyond the limits of the stage, given its %u201Cmarked pedagogical vocation%u201D, as they part with the large numbers of masterly courses and parallel activities that they incorporate in the program.

 Also, she has commented that the autonomous Administration intends to %u201Ckeep guaranteeing%u201D the viability and the success of this festival, %u201Cwhich has achieved to occupy one of the first places in the ranking of flamenco contests of the world%u201D.

 The festival will be opened in the Theatro Villamarta by the Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía, that Cristina Hoyos directs, which will stage the choreography titled Poema del cante jondo en el Café de Chinitas.

 During the festival, Farruquito y Rafaela Carrasco (Vamos al tiroteo), Rafael Estévez y Nani Paños (Sonata), Fernando Belmonte (Reencuentro) o Dorantes y Joaquín Grilo (Leyenda personal) will also appear on the stage among the other artists.

 Also, the official program includes Miet Masura y Canales (Serenata andaluza), Lola Greco y Amador Rojas (Fedra) y Rafael Campallo y su hermana Adela (Puente de Triana).

 In the XIV Festival of Jerez, there will be shows which are performed for the first time. Among them, there is one called La pasión según se mire that gathers Andrés Martin, Concha Vargas and Lole Montoya on the stage.

 Belén Maya and Olga Pericet will perform for the first time Bailes alegres para personas triestes, while Fernando Romero moves the Historia de un soldado of Stravinsky to the flamenco, with the appearance of Manolo Marín and the bailaora Isabel Bayón.
