
The act of solidarity "Flamencos of Sevilla for Japan" was celebrated in Teatro Alameda in Seville last Wednesday, April the 30th. The theater was full. Young Japanese flamenco artists and important artists of the flamenco like Esperanza Fernández, Adela Campallo, Javier Barón, Pedro Sierra, Rafael Campallo or Pastora Galván collcted money for Japan where people suffered huge damages after the earthquake.
According to Bienal de Flamenco, the performance was for free and they gave the audience the possibility to contribute 5 euros to the account of Japanese Embassy which is in Banco Sabadell Atlántico and is destined to Red Cross Japan. They collected exactly 2.755,52 euros and sent the entire amont to the mentioned account next morning.
El Instituto de la Cultura y las Artes de Sevilla (ICAS) wanted to thank through the Bienal de Flamenco the group of Japanese artists in Sevilla, Spanish artists, people who came to the event, who worked at the theater and who spread the information about the event by media, for their disinterested participation to their performance. This idea was suggested to the Bienal by a group of artists.
The Japanese artists in Sevilla who were on stage were:baile, Eri Fukuhara, Junko Hagiwara, Kaori Taniguchi, Yuki Tawara, Keiko Ishikawa, Nanako Aramaki, Sachiko Nishiuchi; cante, Masahiro Yamakawa and Yumi Yamashita; toque, Eizo Tawara, Kentaro Tokunaga and Kojiro Tokunaga and Naoaki Kimura.
