A new investigation about the economic perspective of the flamenco will be carried out by the University of Cádiz (UCA) thanks to the agreement that the vice-chancellor of the academic institution, Diego Sales, has signed with the director of the Agency of the Flamenco, Francisco Perujo.
By means of this agreement, the Agency promises to finance the project so that the university carries out the project in a period of nine months.
In this way, they study in depth the perspective of the flamenco and the economy, something almost unknown because they published previously very few studies of this type -among them, the work done by Silvia Calado, El negocio del flamenco (2007) stands out-. The department of Organization of Companies will carry out the project and the professor José Ruiz Navarro will cordinate it.
They will do the study in 2 parts: the first part will be about the influence of the flamenco in the cultural industries and they aim to obtain the first approximation of the importance of the flamenco in Andalucía.
It will be a perspective of the principal economic parameters, so they intend to obtain a business vision about its importance, forms to organize, resources to use, models of contracting, numbers of companies related to the flamenco, signs of the sector, outstanding companies, professionals, invoicing and other indicators that permit to delimit the relative weight of the flamenco in comparison to other cultural industries in Andalucía.
It is expected that this first part of the study will be done in the next nine months. The first working plan must be prepared maximum in a month. Once the first report is ready, the Andalucian Agency for the Improvement of the Flamenco will take charge of its publishing and diffusion.
