Sara Baras is about to hang up her boots... temporarily, of course.
After years of frantic activities, new stagings, own company, tours all over the world and with an average of 200 shows per year, Sara has decided to stop because she wants to be mother. It is not that she is already pregnant, but she wants to be calm to have a baby with all guarantees.
For this reason, the bailaora from Cádiz has created a new show which, with the name "Esencia (Essence)", she gathers the best of her previous productions to show an outlook of her artistic career. A history of success which has led her to the top of the actual flamenco dancing. Indeed, she is one of the most famous artists outside of the flamenco world and one of the artists who work a lot outside of our frontiers.
"Ecencia" was performed for the first time in Paris in December 2009 and has been performed in different cities as her temporal farewell. These months, she has represented it or is about to do so in Valladolid, Bilbao, Barcelona, Granada, Madrid, Palma de Mallorca, London and to close, in Cádiz, her city.
Apart from her motherhood, Sara Baras has declared that she wants to make the most of her break to soak up again actual flamenco as a member of the audience, to keep improving her work of choreography and to reflect about her artistic drift. Maybe, when she comes back, we can see more mature and different Sara with new stories to tell and new ways to do it.
