The news about the designation of Paco de Lucía as honorary doctor of music at Berklee College of Music in Boston made the world of flamenco and of the culture in general applaud the artist from Algeciras.
This is the first time that a Spanish musician receives this degree. The SGAE has created the web "pacodeluciadoctorhonoriscausa.com" so that Internet users can leave their messages to congratulate the guitarist. This web has been created with the idea to turn this designation, which is programmed for May the 8th, into a large act of massive recognition.
Many aficionados, politicians, friends and artists have left their messages of congratulations, gratitude and affection for Paco de Lucía. It is turning into an avalanche of recognition of the world of culture. Pedro Almodóvar, Ángeles González-Sinde, Alejandro Sanz, Iñaki Gobilondo, Jesús Quintero or Caetano Veloso are some examples of the important people who are not from the flamenco world, but seduced by the music of the guitarist and have left their message of support.
