Like every summer, they have announced the program of courses of the Festival de Jerez, which will be celebrated from February the 25th to March the 12th, 2011.
The main news of the next festival will be the start-up of "Que me quiten lo bailao", some special beginner courses for seniors. The courses will be given by María José León, Irene Carrasco and Manuela Carpio.
These new courses, which will be added to the important learning program of the Festival, will be the courses of the alegrías de Cádiz, the bulerías de Jerez and the baile por tangos. They will take place in the gym Mantara.
In the ordinary learning program, the presence of the masters like Leonor Leal, Matilde Coral, Ana María López, Manuel Liñán, Belén Maya, Andrés Peña, Juan Parra, Pilar Ogalla, Isabel Bayón, Rafaela Carrasco, María José Franco, Joaquín Grilo, Antonio El Pipa, Angelita Gómez or Mercedes Ruiz stands out among the others. The courses are consist of 4 levels, initiation, basic, intermediate and advanced.
They will also repeat this year the workshops of compás and palmas, which will be given between February the 28th and March the 11th. David "El Gamba" and Jerónimo Utrilla will teach at the head office of the Centro Andaluz de Flamenco.
Inscription
The period of inscription for the courses of the Festival de Jerez will be open on September the 1st. You must remember that the places are limited ( about 1,000 in total ) and are usually sold out in a short time. The inscription entitles you to attend the shows at Villamarta theatre during the period of the course you take.
Most of the participants of the learning program of the festival are foreigners.
