The enormous effort of the organizers of the International Festival of Cante de las Minas in La Unión for this 50th anniversary has been rewarded with the massive respone of the audience who were in such a special event.
The program was luxury, there were a lot of parallel activities, the Congress and its contest have gathered 40,000 people who filled the small town of Murcia from the 2nd to the 14th of August.
With these numbers, the mayor of La Unión and president of the Festival, Franciaso Bernabé, assured that the festival of this year will "go down in hisotry as a year we broke all the records." Also, people will remember it as the festival in which Miguel Poveda won the Lampara Minera, Enrique Morente received the prestigious Castillete de Oro, Miguel Poveda inaugurated the street with his name, and above all, they will remember because of many magic moments that the artists left during their performances.
